Toy Tales Toy Sale:
Toy Tales is having a fundraising sale at Pony Village Mall on Saturday Dec 19th from 11am-4pm, as well as Dec 18th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd in the Newmark Center. Community members can help support vital children's programs by donating or purchasing toys at the sale event. Toys were collected by North Bend High School Key Club students, and were cleaned and tagged by local Girl Scouts. All proceeds go to support ORCCA's children's programs in Coos, Curry & Western Douglas counties. CASA Holiday Cards and Calendars:
CASA has cards and 2010 calendars for sale. Please see website at www.orcca.us. You can come by the Newmark Center room 229. Cards cost $15 for a box of 20, and calendars are $10. All proceeds go to CASA and help support children in our community If you have questions, please call 888-7436.
Bus Jam 2009 "Largest Ever":
ORCCA wants to thank the community KDOCK radio, Coos Bay-North Bend volunteers, and the many donars for Bus Jam 2009! We received over 8,000 pounds of much needed food for the South Coast Food Share. Thank you for making Bus Jam 2009 such a successful event!
South Coast Food Share Seeking Volunteers:
Winter is here, and the South Coast Food Share will be distributing more food than ever to hungry families and children of Coos/Curry County. We have volunteer opportunities everyday, 8-12 and 1-5pm, Monday through Friday. Specifically, we are looking for people to help out on Dec 17th, 18th, and 31st at 8am, as well as volunteer drivers starting next week. If you are interested in helping to feed hungry families this Holiday Season, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Madeline Enos at menos (at) orcca (dot) us or (541) 888-7070.
LEAP Winter Energy Assistance Season Begins:
Phone lines for the 2010 LEAP assistance season opened November 30, 2009 and appointments will start December 14. All applicants are also invited to an Energy Education and Conservation workshop that includes information that can help a family save as much as $200 a year on energy bills and all attendees will receive energy saving merchandise worth $20. You can call the energy hotline at (541) 888-7056 or call (541) 888-1575 for more information.
Energy Assistance Hotline Seeking Volunteers:
Upon opening the Energy Assistance Hotline, we often receive over a hundred calls a day, and we need volunteers to assist in keeping families warm this winter. Volunteers are needed to transcribe messages, send out applications, and help schedule appointments for families in need! If interested, call (541) 888-7070.
