1 of every 8 people in our community is going hungry every day  but you can Keep Our Cupboards Full and make a difference in the lives of your neighbors.   Take action and donate to the South Coast Food Share Virtual Food Drive. Every donation will help feed hungry families in our community and increase the food available throughout Coos and Curry counties.  Go to www.orcca.us to participate in the drive, donate or find out how you can help feed hungry children and families in our community.

One of our ORCCA volunteers is looking for a good home for Sheba, his pitbull/blue heeler mix puppy. Bennie will be undergoing surgery soon, and will be unable to give Sheba the attention that she needs, and is looking for someone who would like to add a puppy to the family. For inquiries, please email Madeline at menos@orcca.us who will forward your message to Bennie.

AmeriCorps VISTAs at Oregon Coast Community Action have accomplished great work through their enthusiasm, hard work and service to the community.  In partnership, our staff has seen the organization accomplish increased capacity, community contacts and project goals on behalf of families in need in our region. Morgan Filbert conceptualized the first-in-Oregon Virtual Food Drive  utilizing the ORCCA website to drive donations to the program in a more sustainable format than a standard food drive. Jason Yoshinaga has been working towards building agency capacity, particularly in the development and implementation of the Coos County 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness. Sharon Seiler has coordinated several large local food drives, including Building to End Hunger in April 2009, Care-A-Van in July 2009, and other drives that resulted in a significant increase in community support for South Coast Food Share. Thanks for all the hard work!

Community Action Connect will go out the first Monday of every month.
