Community Action Connect: An Opportunity for Neighbors to Help Their Neighbors!
Thanks to the ORCCA Connect Program many families have been provided with household furnishings, which have included tables, chairs, kitchen items, and a dryer. If you have used and in good condition items that you would like to donate, please call Michelle at 888-7023.
The Care-A-Van food drive event coordinated by ORCCA, the Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary, and the World Newspaper, culminated in a victory lap around the Bay Area on Saturday, July 11. The event ran through June and the beginning of July, with 40 local businesses participating. Care-A-Van brought in three tons of food! Thanks to the generosity of local donors, local businesses and the great volunteers who drove the Care-A-Van vehicles and delivered the food, over 600 hungry families will be able to eat from emergency food at local pantries in Coos & Curry Counties!
Kudos to Dawn & Clark at the World Newspaper, Sharon & Emily at ORCCA, and the many, many others who participated and coordinated this fantastic event!
ORCCA is now recruiting applicants for 16 AmeriCorps members' positions! With 2 full time and 14 part time positions, ORCCA hopes to bring many more opportunities for young people in our region to learn, earn money and funds for higher education, as well as give back to their community.
Serve children, hungry families, families in crisis and much more!
FT positions include a living stipend, and all AmericCorps members qualify for: Food Stamps, Tuition Waiver at a higher learning institution, Educational Award to be used for student loans or to pay for higher education (amount determined by hours served) and much more!
